AUDIO RESTORATION

During our audio restoration work, we offer a comprehensive range of services to ensure the highest quality restoration and enhancement of your audio recordings. Our services include:

Noise Reduction is the process of eliminating or reducing unwanted noise or disturbances that can be present in audio recordings. Noise can be introduced during the recording process due to various factors such as already present background noise, electrical interference, microphone handling noise, tape hiss, or poor input signal quality. The noise reduction techniques commonly used by us:

  • DeBird
  • DeBreath
  • DeClick
  • DeClip
  • DeCrackle
  • DeEss
  • DeHum
  • DePlosive
  • DeReverb
  • DeRustle
  • DeWind
  • Dialog Extract
  • Wow and Flutter Removal

Spectral Recovery aims to restore frequencies above 4000 Hz that may have been lost during streaming or conference calls. This is a common challenge due to the limitations of the audio codecs and bandwidth constraints typically associated with these communication platforms. It is not always possible to completely recover the lost frequencies above 4 kHz.

Volume Normalization is done to ensure that the restored audio material matches the desired loudness standards and maintains a consistent volume level. Depending on the speciffic requirements of the audio material we offer:

  • Loudness Normalization
  • Peak Normalization
  • RMS Normalization
  • Normalization with Dynamic Range Compression

AUDIO EDITING

At equisonus we offer audio editing services for both single track and multi-track audio recordings. Our audio editing services include:

Edit or remove content from your audio

This can involve various modifications such as removing silence, specific words, filter words like "ah" and "um", correcting mistakes, or even trimming and removing undesired parts of the audio material.

Audio Format and Sample Rate Conversion

We provide audio format and sample rate conversion services to ensure compatibility and optimal playback of your audio material across various platforms and devices. Audio format conversion involves converting audio files from one format to another (like WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC), while sample rate conversion involves changing the sample rate of an audio file. Utilizing industry-standard software and our expertise the quality of your audio files is preserved throughout the conversion process.

Center Extract

We can treat your audio material to preserve or remove the center channel of a stereo or surround sound recording. The center channel typically contains the main elements of the audio, such as vocals, lead instruments, and dialogue in the case of video content. We have the capability to preserve the center channel, maintaining focus on the main audio elements. Additionally, we can remove the center channel to isolate specific elements from the mix as needed.

Dialogue Contour

With dialogue-specific pitch correction, we have the ability to modify the intonation or tune the inflection of individual words within a phrase that may not align with the overall dialogue. This allows us to ensure a consistent and cohesive vocal performance, correcting any discrepancies in pitch or tonality that may arise within the dialogue recording.

Unmixing

Utilizing this technique we can separate vocals from instruments in an audio recording. This treatment is commonly employed in situations where there is a need to remix or modify the individual elements of a mixed recording. However, it is important to note that extracting the vocal track from a mixed audio file may not always yield perfect results. While the vocals can be isolated to a certain extent, there may still be some remaining "leaked" sounds from other instruments present. To address this, we'll manually remove the residual artifacts from other instruments using professional audio editing software such as iZotope RX Advanced and Steinberg WaveLab Pro.

AUDIO MIXING

At equisonus we work with a range of renowned audio software brands. Complete list of the audio mixing and mastering software utilized by us could be found on our studio page. We offer a comprehensive range of audio mixing services to cater to your specific needs and bring your audio projects to life. Our mixing services include:

Ambience Control and Reverbation

The manipulation and management of the spatial and environmental characteristics of a sound recording. We'll shape and adjust the reverberation, room acoustics, and overall spatial attributes to achieve a desired atmosphere and perception of space. We utilize renowned reverbation audio software from leading reverbation software developers to achieve exceptional results in creating realistic and immersive reverberation effects.

Equalization (EQ)

Technique used to shape the tonal balance of individual tracks and the overall mix. We have access to a diverse range of clean and colored equalization software including digital and analog modeled EQs. We offer the distinct advantages of analog modeled equalizers emulating iconic audio units such as the API 550 L and 560 L; Neve 1073; Pultec EQP-1A, MEQ-5 and HLF-3C. They faithfully replicate the sonic characteristics and behavior of classic analog hardware equalizers, allowing us to bring warmth, coloration, and musicality to your audio mix. In addition to our analog modeled equalizers, we also utilize the industry-standard Pro-Q 3 by FabFilter for transparent equalization.

Dynamics Processing

We employ compression, expansion, gating, limiting and transient shaping techniques to control the dynamic range of the mix, ensuring a consistent and polished sound. For transparent compression or limiting we use industry standard audio dynamics software like FabFilter Pro-C 2, Pro-MB, Pro-L 2 and DMG Audio Limitless. We also utilize analog modeled compressors emulating many popular analog units such as the UREI 1176, API 2500, Fairchild 660 and 670, RCA BA-25A, SSL 4000 G and Teletronix LA-2A to bring the characteristics and qualities of classic analog hardware compressors into our audio mixing to faithfully emulate the characteristics and behavior of classic analog hardware compressors, offering the warmth, coloration, and dynamic shaping that is highly sought after in professional audio.

Harmonic excitation, also known as saturation

We use this powerful technique to add warmth, depth, and fullness to audio recordings. By introducing subtle or intense harmonic distortion, harmonic excitation enriches the sound and will contribute to a more pleasing and vibrant sonic character. Our secret weapons in this domain could be found on our studio page.

Vocal Tuning known as Pitch Correction

We offer pitch correction as part of our audio mixing services to ensure tthe pitch accuracy and stability of vocal recordings and instruments. We utilize industry-standard pitch correction software to achieve precise pitch and manipulation.

Stereo Imaging

Using specialized techniques and industry-standard tools, we can effectively control the stereo width and enhance the perceived depth of your individual tracks or the entire mix. By carefully balancing and positioning the audio elements, we can create a more immersive and engaging listening experience, bringing out the details and enhancing the overall perception of space in the mix.
